Focus to/from Two Astigmatic Focii

Description


The Focus to/from Two Astigmatic Focii option generates a bundle of rays from the defined ray positions with different X and Y axis focal points.  The phase function for this direction specification is:

 

 

 

Note that phase function above is a parabolic wavefront and therefore rays do not come to perfect focus at the specified focal points.  Three views of an astigmatic focii definition are shown below.

This feature can be accessed by select Focus to / from two astigmatic focii as the ray direction type on the Positions/Directions tab of a detailed source dialog box.

Parameters

Z1 (sag)

Z-position of the sagittal, or X axis, focus in system units.

Z-position of the tangential, or Y axis, focus in system units.

Rays can be directed towards or away from the sagittal or X axis focus.

Discard settings and close dialog box.
