Description

This command specifies the characteristics of a Gaussian spectrum.  Once created, the spectrum Type cannot be changed.

Navigation

To create a new spectrum:

Menu > Create > New Spectrum

Toolbar button:

Ctrl + Alt + Z

Right mouse click on the Spectra node in the object tree and select "Create New Spectrum" from the list menu

To edit an existing Gaussian spectrum:

Double mouse click on a Gaussian spectrum node in the object tree

Application Notes

Functional Form

The functional form of the Gaussian spectrum is given by:

f(x) = exp[ -(W0 - l)2 / (2s2)]

s = HWHM / 1.17741

Wavelength Range

Outside of the specified wavelength range of the spectrum, the spectral values are zero everywhere.  Inside of the wavelength range the values are determined by the functional form of the Gaussian.
