Description

This command specifies the characteristics of a Blackbody spectrum.  Once created, the spectrum Type cannot be changed.

Navigation

To create a new spectrum:

Menu > Create > New Spectrum

Toolbar button:

Ctrl + Alt + Z

Right mouse click on the Spectra node in the object tree and select "Create New Spectrum" from the list menu

To edit an existing Blackbody spectrum:

Double mouse click on a Blackbody spectrum node in the object tree

Right mouse click on a Blackbody spectrum node in the object tree and select "Edit/View Spectrum" from the list menu

Application Notes

Normalize option

Unchecking the Normalize option can be useful for comparing the Spectral Values of the Blackbody model to known data.  However, the user will notice that when plotting a Blackbody spectrum with other spectrum types the large spectral values of the Blackbody may result in reduced visibility of the features of the other spectra.

Units

FRED reports the spectrum in units consistent with the Blackbody Spectrum scripting commands, namely Watts/(cm2 Steradian mm).
