Description
This ray position specification defines a regular grid of starting ray positions inside of a rectangular or elliptical planar aperture. For rectangular apertures, the number of starting ray positions is simply Nx * Ny. For elliptical apertures, the number of starting ray positions will be some number less than Nx * Ny because the ellipse overlays the rectangular ray grid and excludes any positions which lie outside of the ellipse.
Navigation
This feature can be accessed by selecting Grid Plane (rectangular array of points arranged on a plane) as the ray position type on the Positions/Directions tab of a detailed source dialog box.
