Definition Parameters

Displays the data entries that define the selected material type.

Varies with material type.

Other Material Parameters

Step Size

Rays are propagated in discrete steps through GRIN materials and the index and gradient is calculated at each step.  This option sets the size of the step taken during GRIN propagation.  A smaller step size will more accurately reflect the index profile of the material but will increase the raytrace time.

0.1

Max # Steps

This value designates a maximum number of sequential steps that can be taken by a ray while propagating inside of a GRIN material.

1000

X, Y, Z Offset

The X, Y and Z offset values designate the origin shift of the GRIN material in the local coordinate system after being applied to the geometry.  This option allows the user to specify an offset z-axis for a radial GRIN, for example.

0,0,0

OPL Group Velocity

(Advanced Feature) This option adds path length to rays using the group velocity index.
