This feature prints the Zernike coefficients of the unmodified OPD map to the output window. The maximum term number is 65 and the user can specify a minimum magnitude cutoff value below which the terms will not be listed in the output window. For a listing of the Zernike terms used by FRED, please see the Zernike Surface help page.
This feature can be accessed in the following ways: •Right mouse click on the OPD map and select "Print Zernike Coefficients" from the list menu.
Coefficients are calculated by projecting the OPD Map onto the corresponding Zernike function. The quality of this inner-product integration is limited by the resolution of the OPD Map. While the Zernike terms are mutually orthogonal when integrated analytically, they are not perfectly orthogonal when integrated numerically on a rectangular grid. Consequently there can be small amounts of "bleed-over" between terms. The RMS deviation of the Zernike terms over the aperture, calculated using all Zernike coefficients (terms 0 thru 65), is printed after the table of coefficients.
