Description

This feature allows the user to test their implementation of a Scripted BSDF scatter model by entering custom Incident, Specular and Scatter direction vectors as well as a Position on the surface and evaluating the scripted model's BSDF or TIS for a given wavelength.

Navigation

This feature can be accessed by pressing the "Test" button in the upper left corner of the  Scripted BSDF dialog box.

Inputs / Description

Defaults

Input

Incident

X, Y, Z direction vector of the incident ray with respect to the local surface normal coordinate system.

0, 0, 1

Specular

X, Y, Z direction vector of the specular ray with respect to the local surface normal coordinate system.

0, 0, 1

Scatter

X, Y, Z direction vector of the scatter ray with respect to the local surface normal coordinate system.

0, 0.25, 1

Position

X, Y, Z position of the ray's intersection with the surface in the local coordinate system.

0, 0, 0

Wavelength (micron)

Wavelength in microns for the test ray.

Default system wavelength

New Random

Generates a new random number to be used when calculating the BSDF value.

Random

Send TIS Request

When toggled, a request to calculate the TIS is made.  No BSDF value will be determined.  The Summary output will indicate whether the TIS request was a success or failure.

Unchecked

Results

BSDF

BSDF value calculated for the conditions supplied in the Input section of the dialog.  When the "Send TIS Request" option is toggled, no BSDF value is computed.

0

Fraction TIS

Reports the TIS as a fraction of that calculated at x,y,z = 0,0,0.

0

Wavelength (micron)

Reports the wavelength of the scattered ray after undergoing the scatter event.

0

Position

Reports the position of the ray after undergoing the scatter event.

0,0,0

Summary

Reports whether the evaluation of the BSDF or TIS request was a success or failure.

Perform Test

Executes the scatter evaluation for the conditions in Input
