Description

The Raytrace menu offers the following commands:

Trace All Sources

Traces all active sources. Rays are not drawn to the 3D view.

Trace and Render

Traces all active source and draws the rays to the 3D view.

Create All Source Rays

Creates rays for all active source but does not trace.

Delete Existing Rays

Deletes all existing rays.

Trace Existing Rays

Traces existing rays only. Rays are not drawn to the 3D view. Rays not created will not be traced.

Trace Existing and Render

Traces existing rays and draws the rays to the 3D view.

Trace Single Ray

Traces a single ray specified in the Trace Single Ray dialog.

Trace Targeted Ray

Traces a targeted ray specified in the Trace Targeted Ray dialog box.

Ray Manipulation Utility

Active/deactivates rays, implements Ray History options, saves and loads raysets, performs ray propagation; all according to Ray Specification Filter.

User-defined Ray Paths

Constructs user-defined raypaths.

Coherent Field Synthesis

Synthesizes a rayset from complex field data.

Spatially Resample Scalar Field

Creates a new coherent rayset based upon existing rays based upon a scalar field calculation using the spatial resolution of a selected Analysis Surface.

Save Raytrace Ray Paths to File

Opens a file browser dialog that allows the current raytrace ray paths to be saved to a *.frp file.

Note: Modifications to the "filtered" values associated with each raytrace path are not saved into the *.frp file.

Read Ray Paths from File

Reads a *.frp file back into FRED and displays a Raytrace Paths dialog.  The loaded raytrace path data cannot be viewed or analyzed using any other tools in FRED other than the displayed dialog.  The loaded raytrace path data does not replace any existing raytrace path information in the FRED model.  This option is useful as a general purpose *.frp file viewer, as there is no requirement that the FRED model be associated with the *.frp file in any way.

Read and Merge Raytrace Ray Paths

Reads a *.frp file back into FRED and merges with the currently existing raytrace ray paths.  Raytrace path data can be viewed using the Stray Light Report and/or Tools>Reports>Raytrace Paths.  This option requires that the FRED model be identical to the file that created the *.frp file.

Read and Replace Raytrace Ray Paths

Reads a *.frp file back into FRED, replaces the currently existing raytrace ray paths and deletes the current rays in the buffer.  Raytrace path data can be viewed using the Stray Light Report and/or Tools>Reports>Raytrace Paths.  This option requires that the FRED model be identical to the file that created the *.frp file.

Delete All Raytrace Ray Paths

Deletes the current raytrace ray paths.

Advanced Raytrace

Dictates raytrace method, partial traces, implements ray paths and history functions.
