Define the optimization variables, merit function, method and review optimization results.  Please see the following help topics:

Optimize

Performs the optimization using the current settings.

Evaluate Once

Evaluate the merit function for the current document settings.

Evaluate With Current Variable Set

Takes the Current Value for each variable in the Define/Edit Optimization dialog, applies the variable values to the document and then evaluates the merit function.  Inactive variables are not applied to the document.

Evaluate With Current and Reset

Operates in the same manner as Evaluate With Current Variable Set, except that the original variable values are restored after the merit function evaluation.

Sensitivity Analysis

Utility for assessing the sensitivity of the merit function to each of the variables (basic tolerance analysis).

Restore Initial Values

Restores all variable values changed during the previous optimization cycle to their initial pre-optimization values.

Parameter Pickups

Define functional dependencies between two or more system parameters.

System Configurations

Define multiple document configuration sets where system parameters have pre-defined values in each configuration.
