Description
This command specifies a section of the Scalar Field Sample Grid in the Coherent Field Synthesis dialog for amplitude or phase modification. For amplitude modification users can specify a constant value, multiplication by a complex constant, multiplication by a Gaussian, or power scaling. For phase modification users can specify a constant phase, constant phase addition, linear phase addition or quadratic phase addition.
Navigation
This command can be accessed through the following steps:
•Menu > Raytrace > Coherent Field Synthesis
•Highlight a group of cells in the Scalar Field Sample Grid
•Right mouse click and select Modify Field Values from the list menu

Set constant phase
|
Set constant phase for selected data cells. For a complex number having the form,
z = a + ib
the resulting complex number after setting a constant phase f0 is,
z' = |z|{cos(f0) + i sin(f0)}.
In the equations above,
|z| = Sqrt( a2 + b2 ).
The phase values are entered in waves, while the value f0 in the above equations is in radians. So, f0 is 2p times the value entered in the dialog.

Add constant phase
|
Add constant phase to selected data cells. For a complex number having the form,
z = a + ib
the resulting complex number after adding a constant phase f0 is,
z' = |z|{cos( f + f0 ) + i sin( f + f0 )}.
In the equations above,
|z| = Sqrt( a2 + b2 )
f = tan-1( b/a ).
The phase values are entered in waves, while the value f0 in the above equations is in radians. So, f0 is 2p times the value entered in the dialog.

Add Linear phase
|
Add a linear phase to the selected data cells with functional form (a*X + b*Y) . For a complex number having the form,
z = a + ib
the resulting complex number after adding linear phases f0x and f0y is,
z' = |z|{cos( f + f0xx + f0yy ) + i sin( f + f0xx + f0yy )}.
In the equations above,
|z| = Sqrt( a2 + b2 )
f = tan-1( b/a ).
The phase values are entered in waves, while the value f0 in the above equations is in radians. So, f0 is 2p times the value entered in the dialog.

Add quadratic phase
|
Add a quadratic phase (in waves) to the selected data cells with functional form (a*X2 + b*Y2). For a complex number having the form,
z = a + ib
the resulting complex number after adding linear phases f0x and f0y is,
z' = |z|{cos( f + f0xx2 + f0yy2 ) + i sin( f + f0xx2 + f0yy2 )}.
In the equations above,
|z| = Sqrt( a2 + b2 )
f = tan-1( b/a ).
The phase values are entered in waves, while the value f0 in the above equations is in radians. So, f0 is 2p times the value entered in the dialog.
