This feature computes the encircled/ensquared energy values for an analysis dataset, typically from an irradiance calculation. These values are commonly used as a performance metric to determine the fractional amount of energy contained in a certain diameter on an image plane.
The Encircled/Ensquared Energy calculation is accessed by right mouse clicking in the 3D chart view and selecting "Encircled/Ensquared Data" from the list menu.
Writing data to file/output window Right mouse-clicking in the data spreadsheet area allows selection of two data output options. The option "Write to File" creates a *.dat file in a specified directory with a header containing the calculation type (Encircled/Ensquared), number of samples, center point specification followed by the three-column dataset. The option "Write to Output Window" prints the same information to FRED's output window.
Right mouse-clicking in the data spreadsheet area allows selection of a Plot option to graphically display the fraction encircled/ensquared energy vs. radius using FRED's chart viewer.
