When using FRED on a client PC whose authorization is controlled through the use of a single-user Sentinel dongle: •One or more FRED sessions can be executed on the client PC as long as the Sentinel dongle is plugged into the client PC and FRED's license search strategy is appropriately configured to access the local dongle. •FRED can be executed through Remote Desktop as long as the dongle is hosted locally on the remote PC. •The Sentinel dongle is not restricted to a specific PC or user. Any client PC hosting the dongle will be eligible to execute FRED regardless of the user account. •No dongle driver is required to be installed by the user. •The Sentinel Runtime Environment is not required to be installed on the client PC.
The Sentinel dongle is a driver-less technology. Consequently, no additional licensing related components are required during the FRED installation in order to begin using the Sentinel dongle. After FRED is installed on the client PC, the dongle can be plugged into the client PC and FRED will be able to perform the necessary license authentication using the dongle.
Please see the Sentinel License Authorization Update help topic for instructions.
