Description

The Reflect Specular raytrace control allows only reflected rays to propagate if the flux (power) exceeds the specified thresholds. This control does not allow Total Internal Reflection.

Navigation

This feature can be accessed in the following ways:

Double mouse click the Reflect Specular node of the Raytrace Properties tree folder.

Right mouse click the Reflect Specular node of the Raytrace Properties tree folder and select "Edit a Raytrace Control Set" from the list menu.

In the Coating/Raytrace Control tab of a surface dialog, select the Reflect Specular raytrace control and press the "Edit/View" button.

Ray Power Cutoff Thresholds

Specular Refl- Abs/Rel Power

Controls specular reflected ray cutoff.  Rays with power less than or equal to this value are not propagated.

0, 0

Specular Trans- Abs/Rel Power

Controls specular transmitted ray cutoff.  Rays with power less than or equal to this value are not propagated.

0, 0

Scatter Refl- Abs/Rel Power

Controls scattered reflected ray cutoff.  Rays with power less than or equal to this value are not propagated.

0, 0

Scatter Trans- Abs/Rel Power

Controls scattered transmitted ray cutoff.  Rays with power less than or equal to this value are not propagated.

0, 0

Absorbed- Abs/Rel Power

Controls absorbed ray cutoff.  Rays with power less than or equal to this value are not created.

0, 0

Intersection Count Cutoff

Total

This value sets the maximum number of surface intersections for each ray.  Maximum of 1,000,000.

1000

Consecutive

This value sets the number of consecutive intersections each ray can have with a single surface.

10

Ancestry Level Cutoff

Specular

This value sets the maximum number of Specular generations that can be split.

2

Scatter

This value sets the maximum number of Scatter generations that can be split.

1

Spec+Scat

When active, a ray will be suppressed if the sum of its specular and scatter ancestry exceed the specified value.
