Description

The chart style definitions for Intensity, Irradiance, Scalar Field, Energy Density, Geometric OPD Map, and User-defined 3D plots as well as all 2D plots and profiles can be customized by the user.  These custom settings can be saved and invoked each time the desired chart is displayed.

Navigation

The chart settings are accessible by right mouse clicking in an active chart view and selecting "Advanced" from the list menu.  A fully documented 3rd party help file can be opened by clicking the "Help" button in the advanced settings dialog which details all of the available chart settings.

Once the desired settings have been chosen the new chart settings must be saved to file. We recommend saving all chart definitions in <installation directory>\Photon Engineering\FRED x.xx.x\Resources\Charts.  Note that 3D chart definitions are saved as *.oc3 files and 2D chart definitions are saved as *.oc2 files.

To permanently assign the new chart definition to a specific chart type open the FRED Preferences dialog and click on the "File Locations" tab.  Scroll through the File List, select the chart type of interest, and then use the Browse button to point to the newly saved chart definition file location.  After this preference is set, FRED will automatically load this chart style file every time that calculation is made.  There is no need to restart FRED after designating a new chart style file.

Application Notes

Chart Background

The chart background and foreground controls are found on the "Interior" sub-tab of the "Control" tab in the Advanced dialog of the chart viewer.  To set this mode as default, refer to the steps Navigation section of this help topic.

Alternatively, users can select the background and foreground colors through the Chart Color utility.

Default Non-Perspective Setting

To force the 3D chart to appear in the non-perspective mode by default, select the "General" sub-tab on the "ChartGroup" tab of the chart view's Advanced dialog and then uncheck "IsMeshed" and "IsShaded".  The Perspective mode can be restored by the standard method of right-clicking in the chart area and selecting Perspective. To set this mode as default, refer to the steps in the Navigation section of this help topic.
