This command opens a single existing FRED document. When a FRED document is opened, an "integrity check" is performed on the file to ensure that all of the internal object referencing is valid (example: making sure that surfaces don't point to materials that are not defined in the document). If any errors are found during the integrity check, messages will be displayed to the user by popup dialogs and a log file. If a log file is generated, the output window will report to the user the full file path location where the log file is located. The contents of the log file can be used to guide any debugging efforts made to restore the file to its desired state.
This command can be accessed in the following ways: •Menu > File > Open •Ctrl + O •Toolbar button: •Type "open <filename>" at the command line, where <filename> is a valid path to a FRED file.
