By default chart windows are automatically deleted when the FRED document is modified. This includes modifying the system geometry, sources, coatings, ray controls, etc. The "Lock Window" feature prevents deletion of charts when the FRED document is modified.
This feature can toggled by right mouse clicking in an active chart window and selecting "Lock Window" from the list menu.
