MPC Tutorial Introduction The MPC Basic and Advanced tutorials will introduce the essential work-flow and capabilities of FREDMPC needed to perform raytracing and analyses using GPUs.
Basic Tutorial Beginning with a simple model, users will complete the model build by adding sources and analysis constructs appropriate for use with FREDMPC, be introduced to the different GPU raytrace modes, and understand how results and ray data are communicated from the GPUs back to the user.
Advanced Tutorial Beginning with a more complex lens model, users learn how to diagnose discrepancies between the CPU and GPU raytrace results, understand the interplay between the MPC raytrace modes and ray splitting, and be introduced to the MPC Advanced Raytrace capability.
Before You Begin... •The ability to access the GPU raytrace and analysis functionality requires a FREDMPC license. If you do not have access to a FREDMPC license but are interested in a 30-day Trial of the capability, please contact your sales representative. •If you do have a FREDMPC license, you first want to confirm that your computer has a GPU that is supported by FREDMPC. Please refer to the GPU Hardware Configuration help topic for explicit instructions on verifying your hardware configuration meets the FREDMPC requirements. •The FREDMPC tutorials assume that you have a basic knowledge of how to operate FRED itself. If that is not the case, please work through one, or more, of the FRED Tutorials and Examples. Suggested tutorials are:
